FSC forges innovative partnerships and impactful collaborations with supranational bodies

Food Safety Consortium (FSC) participated in the 48th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission in Rome from 10 to12 November. 


The Codex Alimentarius Commission, an international body established by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO) to develop food standards, advocating for a holistic and evidence-based approach to advancing food safety and public health. Professor Terence Lau, Chairman of FSC, along with Ms Nelly Lam, Director of FSC, joined other Codex Alimentarius members and observers to discuss and explore innovative technologies for a safer and more sustainable global food supply. As the first and only non-governmental organisation observer of Codex from Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, FSC echoes Codex’s whole food chain approach to food safety and strives to such advancement by addressing unmet needs and emerging challenges through multidisciplinary innovation and technologies and enhancing public awareness.  

  

The delegation continued the tour at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization headquarters in Vienna, where the team explored key areas for enhancing global food safety, sustainability, food as medicine, and related fields. Discussion focused on fostering closer innovation, partnership, and technology development and application to fulfil unmet needs, drive meaningful changes, and maximise societal impact.
