The Research and Development Centre for Natural Health Products

The Research and Development Centre for Natural Health Products was established in 2017 to promote basic and translational scientific investigations on natural products, to facilitate development and commercialization of health-promoting natural products, and to enhance the social impact of our research.


The Centre is located in The HKBU Institute of Research and Continuing Education (IRACE) in Shenzhen. It provides a platform to foster collaborations among the scientists at the Centre and with other research institutions to generate, exchange, and apply knowledge on natural products. It also aims to establish partnership with regional industry and business communities to facilitate development and commercialization of natural products beneficial to human health and well-being.

Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC)

UIC is the first modern college in the Chinese mainland that upholds a liberal arts education, situated in Zhuhai city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It’s Food Science and Technology Program aims to nurture talents for the food safety industry.

Under the food science and technology area, there are six research major subject, namely biotechnology & food safety, health promotion effect of bioactive dietary components, nutrition & health, food processing, flavour chemistry & sensory science, biomedical materials & targeted drug delivery, and food packing innovation.


In addition, the Food Science and Technology labs are the key developing labs in UIC, which consist of three teaching laboratories (Food Processing Laboratory, Food Analysis Laboratory, Chemistry Lab), six research laboratories (Health Food Lab, Laboratory Kitchen, Food Sensory Evaluation Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Animal Cell Culture Room, Microbiology Lab), four supporting functional laboratories (Walk-in Cooler and Freezer, Weighing room, Sample Retention Room, Water Purification Room), as well as the UIC Food Safety Testing Centre, with a total of 1,500m2.
