The 53rd Session Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA53) is taking place in Hong Kong on March 27-31. The event gathers experts 

 and representatives from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations/World Health Organization and food industry from over 50 countries to discuss global standards setting for food additives. 

Mr Lei Haichao, Vice Minister of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China and Mr Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for Environment & Ecology Bureau, gave an opening speech on the first day. HKBU Interim Chief Innovation Officer Prof. Terence Lau attended CCFA53 and met with Codex Secretary Mr Tom Heilandt. He believes strengthening the joint efforts from the academic and industries through exchanges and technology development would also play a key role in maintaining a sustainable and reliable food supply.
